S&O provides guidance to Customs officers for detection of counterfeits in Thailand

On the 13th of March, 2018, a training organized by S&O with the coordination of Mae Sai Customs House, has been held in Mae Sai, Chiang Rai province, Thailand, in order to guide Customs officers in Mae Sai.

Mae Sai is the main border crossing between Thailand and Myanmar. Thus, it is an important channel for counterfeit products. During this training, S&O had the opportunity to provide guidance for the detection of counterfeits. As counterfeiting is a well-known IP infringement in South-East Asia holding this presentation was a key part of preventing future infringement in Thailand.

The aim of this representation was to notify the officer of this area of guideline to differentiate the genuine products from the counterfeit ones for 4 brands. As such, around 30 Customs officers from Mae Sai Customs House attended the training.

This training was also the time and place to cover topics such as key manufacturing countries and distribution centers in designated countries. Furthermore, the aim was also for S&O to strengthen working relationship with the Customs House.
