Vietnam – Getting Over 52 Billion VND From Market Management Enforcement

According to the information from the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Branch, 2,534 infringement cases were detected by specialized inspections in the first half of 2018 and the total penalty for these violations was up to 52 billion VND.

As a result of the violation, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Management Branch recently organized the destruction of products counterfeiting and infringing intellectual property rights including the counterfeit and prohibited goods, as well as goods not eligible for circulation at Le Minh Xuan Industrial Park in Binh Chanh District. Most of the destroyed goods were chemicals, watches, cell phones, bags, clothes and cosmetics.

From the beginning of the year, a great number of cosmetics, cigarettes, functional foods and prepared foods were destroyed followed by specialized department seizures. Cigarettes occupied a considerable number of seized goods with 87,843 packages of smuggled cigarettes from 248 cases of violations. 45 motorbikes and 11 cars were also confiscated as transportation for delivering smuggled tobacco.
